Bective Abbey was a pleasant surprise to us on our recently completed Ireland trip. It wasn't on our original agenda but rather was an impromptu stop on the way to something that was. It is just ruins of course but what remains is extremely well preserved and since it isn't a major tourist attraction we had the place mostly to ourselves.
